Olszewski, Frank, Saginaw, Michigan


Beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014. Age 99 years. Son of the late Bronislaw and Juzefa (Kaniszewska)Olszewski, Frank was born July 25, 1914 in Saginaw, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant medical technician in WWII and was a member of American Legion Post #439. He married Eleanor (Maliszewski) Gulvas on January 21, 1956. She predeceased him March 1, 2014. Frank was employed by Pulaski Hall retiring in 1979. He was a life member of St. Casimir Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #593 and its bowling league. Frank loved gardening and enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren. Surviving are six daughters, two sons and their spouses, Robert G. Gulvas, Sharon Krenz, Carol and Tom Toporski, Betty Dugle, Donna and Don Makowski, Dianne and Danny Crumpler, Craig A. Olszewski, Debra Dise; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Isabel Lienczewski ; one brother, Valerian Olszewski; two sisters=in-law, Valeria Olszewski and Theresa Olszewski; many nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by two daughters, Nancy Popielarz and Barbara Hozeska; a great- grandson, Bryce C. Ross; one sister, Helen Lazowski; six brothers, Wladyslow (Walt) Olszewski, Sam Olszewski, Walt (Duke) Olszewski, Edward Olszewski, Edwin Olszewski and Theodore Olszewski. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, St. Casimir site, 2122 S. Jefferson, Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Thomas Schmied, OFM Cap. will officiate. Burial will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by American Legion Post #439. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Sunday from 1:00-6:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service will take place at 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
