Olszewski, Eleanor, Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014. Age 95 years. The daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Bukowski) Maliszewski, Eleanor was born August 26, 1918 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married George A. Gulvas in 1938. He predeceased her in 1953. Eleanor then married Frank Olszewski on January 21, 1956. He survives her. She was employed at the Saginaw Board of Education for 20 years until her retirement in 1981. Eleanor was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #593 Ladies Auxiliary, Pulaski Ladies Auxiliary, League of Catholic Women and had volunteered to work Bingo. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are six daughters, two sons and their spouses, Robert G. Gulvas, Sharon Krenz, Carol and Tom Toporski, Betty Dugle, Donna and Don Makowski, Dianne and Danny Crumpler, Craig A. Olszewski, Debra Dise; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; many nieces and nephews. Eleanor was preceded in death by two daughters, Nancy L. Popielarz and Barbara Hozeska, a great-grandson, Bryce C. Ross, and by three brothers and four sisters, Bernard, Joseph and Leonard Maliszewski, Irene Reinke, Genevieve Ellis, Theresa Maliszewski and Josphine Dartey. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, St. Casimir site, 2122 S. Jefferson, Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Joseph Schabel and Rev. Fr. Thomas Schmied, OFM Cap., will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Monday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service will take place at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
