Metiva, Donald J., Zilwaukee, Michigan


Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014 at his home. Age 72 years. Son of the late Peter and Margaret (Rehmann) Metiva, Donald was born May 8, 1942, along with his twin sister Diana, in Saginaw, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He was married to Catherine Hartung and then later married Donna M. Grimmer October 14, 1995. She survives him. He was employed at GM-Delphi for 42 years. Donald was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. He was an avid collector of sports cards and trains. Surviving besides his wife Donna are two sons and one daughter, Paul (Lesia) Metiva, Greenville; Susan (David Sr.) DeFord, Zilwaukee; Jeffrey (Tammy) Metiva, Frankenmuth; six grandchildren; two step-daughters, Michelle (Christopher) Mistretta, Macomb; Melanie (Robert) Garcia, Sterling Heights; four step-grandsons; one step great-grandson; three sisters and one brother, Diana Bismack, Zilwaukee; Patricia (Walt) Light, Zilwaukee; Annette (Paul) Fullerton, Atmore, Alabama; Richard (Yvonne) Metiva, Zilwaukee; many nieces and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by his brother, Peter J. Metiva, and brother-in-law, Robert Bismack. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Paul Parish II, St. Matthew site, 511 W. Cornell St. Rev. Fr. James Bessert will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road(between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Wednesday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass.
