Leitner, Samuel C., Saginaw, Michigan


Passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at St. Mary’s of Michigan. He was 85 years old. Samuel Charles Leitner was born on September 19, 1929 in Dallas, Texas to the late Lorin and Edith (Faylor) Leitner. He married Beverly Yvonne Milholin on June 21, 1952; she survives him. Samuel graduated from Gladwin High School with the Class of 1947. He then joined the United States Navy as Fireman Apprentice. Upon his honorable discharge, he was a self-employed salesman for many years. Samuel and Bev were members of Hemlock United Methodist Church. He was a Free & Accepted Mason of Michigan – Grand Lodge and a volunteer firefighter for Jonesfield-Lakefield in Merrill, Michigan. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. He enjoyed nothing more than his family. Surviving besides his wife of 62 years, Bev; three children: Debbie (Rex) Wolfe from Merrill, Judy (Ron) Poyer from Merrill, and Jeff (Cathy) Leitner from Green Bay, WI; five grandchildren: Adam (Amy) Siler, Nicole Wolfe and fiancé, Andy Wendling, Courtney (Miguel) Atkinson, Taryn (Wade) Brown, and Abbey Leitner; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Wayne (Deborah) Leitner; and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and half-brother, Clifford Lane. Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Hemlock United Methodist Church, 406 W. Saginaw St. Rev. Michael W. Vollmer will officiate. Cremation has taken place. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
