LaMountain, Richard R., Thomas Township, Michigan


Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Friday, November 28, 2014 at St. Mary’s of Michigan Medical Center. Age 75 years. Son of the late Rene and Margaret (Knieling) LaMountain, Richard was born November 14, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Navy. Richard married Diane G. Slancik on May 7, 1966. She survives him. Richard was employed at General Motors retiring in 1986. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #8808. Richard enjoyed camping, metal detecting, lawn work, wood working, golfing and especially supporting his grandchildren in their sporting events. Surviving besides his wife Diane are four daughters, Jennifer LaMountain, Saginaw; Jill and Christopher Marhelko, Nuremberg, Pennsylvania; Jenelle and Kurt Phibbs, Saginaw; Julie LaMountain, Ferndale; seven grandchildren, Shane, Matthew and Eric Fletcher, Cooper, Landon, Jake and Lauren Phibbs; three sisters, Shirley and Marvin Howe, Birch Run; Mary and Kenneth Worley, Birch Run; Dorothy Daenzer, Frankenmuth; his mother-in-law, Eleanor Heilmann, Saginaw; several nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Timothy Slancik and Robert Daenzer. Honoring Mr. LaMountain’s wishes cremation has taken place. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Friday, December 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Road. Rev. Fr. Peter Gaspeny will officiate. Burial of cremains will take place at 2:00 p.m. Friday in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Thursday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. The Knights of Columbus Council #8808 will pray the Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
