LaFreniere, Louis R., Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away on March 14, 2014, at Saint Mary’s of Michigan. Age 78 years. Louis was born on September 13, 1935, in Buena Vista Twp., Michigan to the late Frank and Edna (Meier) LaFreniere. He was married to Marcina C. Carlson on November 25, 1988, in Saginaw, where she survives him. He had served in the U. S. Army. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a machine repairman at General Motors for over 30 years. He enjoyed woodworking, carving duck decoys, and making toys. Surviving besides his wife, Marcina, are his children and step-children, Brent (Jerri) LaFreniere, Oklahoma City; Teresa Carlson (Erick) Minks, Las Vegas; his grandchildren, Guy Guymer, Saginaw, Ammie (Paul) Jensen, Boston, Howard LaFreniere, John LaFreniere, Kathi Jean LaFreniere, of Detroit, Charlene (Justin) Boerner, Omaha, Cynthia LaFreniere, Oklahoma City, Grace Carlson and Max Minks, Las Vegas; great-grandchildren, Audrey Jensen, Amelia Jensen, and Gaven Guymer. He is also survived by his sisters, Virginia Bouchey and Nancy (Wayne) Fox. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and several very close friends. He was also predeceased by two children, Lori LaFreniere Guymer and John Michael LaFreniere, and three brothers John, Wayne, and Russell LaFreniere. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at St. Mary’s, especially Dr. Szilagyi and Dr. Kinachtchouk, for providing Louis with such incredible care. We would also like to thank Heartland Hospice for their wonderful help through this process. A private family burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens at a later date.
