Hunter, Robert J., Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend passed away Monday, December 22, 2014 at Masonic Pathways in Alma, Michigan. Age 85 years. The son of the late William and Theresa (Churchill) Hunter, Bob was born January 25, 1929 in Saginaw, Michigan. Bob attended Saginaw Public Schools and graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1947. He married JoAnne Fink, his loving wife of 57 years, on June 21, 1958. She survives him. Bob served his country in the U.S Navy during the Korean War as a radio operator on the USS Bausell. He was recognized as one of the premier Tri-City area home construction and kitchen designers and was a member of the American Home Builders Association, the United Commercial Travelers and Masonic Lodge #77. Bob was a member of Faith Ev. Lutheran Church where he served in numerous capacities including singing in the choir and for many weddings and special events, trustee, taught Catechism, building committees, Deacon, Bethel Series, Big Brother, YMCA, Indian Guides Youth Program, Saginaw Field & Stream and had volunteered at Covenant Medical Center. Bob was instrumental in the construction of Living Hope Lutheran Church in Farwell, Michigan and loved his summer cabin on Windover Lake in Lake, Michigan. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed music, but most of all loved attending all of his children’s, grandchildren’s, and assumed extended families children’s numerous activities of soccer, dance, gymnastics, basketball, golf and track. Surviving besides his wife JoAnne are one daughter, one son and their spouses, Geoff and Lori Hunter, Sylvania, Ohio; Molly and Paul Bommarito, Pleasanton, California; four grandchildren, Kyle (Kristi) Hunter, Aubrey Hunter, Paul and Alec Bommarito; two brothers, Richard (Fran) Hunter, Freeland; Tom (Peg) Hunter, Traverse City; several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by one brother and one sister, William Hunter and Mary May Berghoff. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Ev. Lutheran Church, 4432 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw. Pastor Jon Bell will officiate. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Freeland, where military honors will be presented. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road, where the family will be present on Friday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and at Faith Ev. Lutheran Church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. There will be a Prayer Service 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
