Hartman, John E., Saginaw, Michigan


Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Monday, April 21, 2014 at his home surround by his family. Age 71 years. Son of the late Bernard and Alice (Stoeckle) Hartman, John was born September 16, 1942 in Saginaw, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. John married Carolyn K. Simmons on January 12, 1963. She survives him. John was employed as a truck driver at Country Mark Trucking retiring in 1998. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. John enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing, woodworking. Surviving besides his wife Carolyn are two daughters and two sons, Jacquelyn Hartman, Saginaw; Jennifer Obey, Augusta, Georgia; Michael and Cammie Hartman, Frankenmuth; Matthew and Jennifer Hartman, Reese; six grandchildren, Elizabeth (Robert), Nicole (Brian), Katie, Jacob, Nicklas and Nathan; one great-grandson, Oliver; six sisters and two brothers, Betty and James Hawkshaw, Bernard and Ruth Hartman, June Lawson, Sister Katrinia Hartman O.P., Jean and Neil Lupton, Alan and Susie Hartman, Nancy Artley, Duane and Barbara Hartman; several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his two sisters, Patricia Keller and Wilma Counts. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, St. Anthony of Padua site, 3680 S. Washington Road, Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Thomas Schmied, OFM Cap. will officiate with burial in Spaulding Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the church where family will be present on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
