Loving mother and grandmother passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at her home in Saginaw, Michigan. Age 90 years. Joan Stenglein was born on March 9, 1924 in Saginaw, Michigan, and graduated from St. Andrews High School in 1942. She was married to Joseph Hart on November 25, 1950 in Saginaw, Michigan. He predeceased her on June 16, 1976. Joan was a secretary for the Saginaw Township Schools for 15 years, and enjoyed raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren, who will dearly miss her. Surviving her are three sons and one daughter, Patrick (Lisa) Hart, Michael Hart, Brigid (Stanley) Pruss, and Kevin Hart; her six grandchildren, Jennifer Hart, Melissa (Nicholas) Horn, Chelsea Horvath, Kalen Pruss, Emmet Pruss, and Kathleen Hart; three great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Joan was preceded in death by an infant son and daughter, Twins Mary and Joseph; her brothers, John "Jack" Stenglein, Leo Stenglein, and Clare Stenglein. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 5380 State Street. Rev. Fr. Marcel Portelli will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Sunday from 1:00-5:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass.
