Fierstien, Pearl Elizabeth, Saginaw, Michigan

Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully Saturday, August 16, 2014 with her daughters at her side. Age 91 years. Daughter of the late Charles and Alma (Simmet) Hagle, Pearl was born February 16, 1923 in Saginaw, Michigan. She served in the U. S. Navy. Pearl was married to Raymond W. Fierstien on August 24, 1942 in Atlanta, Georgia. He predeceased her November 24, 1993. Pearl enjoyed her retirement following a work career which included the Avalon Restaurant, Bock’s Drugs, Valley National Bank, and St. Lukes Hospital. Pearl and Ray enjoyed traveling, boating, their cottage at Wixom Lake, the sun, word searches, the casino and especially their family. Pearl had a colorful, feisty and fun loving personality. She was charismatic with her fun loving and positive outlook on life. Pearl made friends wherever she went. Surviving are three daughters, Rae Ann and David Roche, Harbor Springs; Linda and Stanley Kutsch, Saginaw; Vickie and Clint Mills, Saginaw; five grandchildren, Melissa (Tom) Polzin, David (Meredith) Roche, Sarah Roche, Stacy (Ward) Kunz, and Stephanie Rasco; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Smith, Racine, Wisconsin; several nieces and nephews. Pearl was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Caleb Roche; two brothers, Kenneth and Glenn Hagle; and three sisters Ruth Hagle, Mary Pettyplace and Dorothy Ball. Pearl’s family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude to her care givers at Meadowview Manor especially Saundra, Catrina, Roxann, Tameka, Chantell, Char, Greg, Karen and Rick, and SouthernCare Hospice. Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 2525 Hemmeter Road. Pastor Jeff Bonn will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the church where the family will be present from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Our Saviour Lutheran Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to The Snow Funeral Home, Saginaw.
