Carson, Dorothy V., Saginaw, Michigan

Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 at Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Centre. Age 87 years. Daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Chmielewski) Szatkowski, Dorothy was born January 9, 1927 in Flint, Michigan. Dorothy was employed as a secretary at Travelo Mobile Homes and later became the Senior Administrative Secretary to the Assistant President of Delta Community College for almost 20 years, retiring in 1993. She was a member of St. Josaphat Catholic Church (now St. John Paul II Parish). Surviving are one daughter Maribeth (James) Church, Saginaw; two grandsons, Bryson (Stacey) Church and Colin Church, two great-granddaughters, Brianna and Sadie Church all of Mt. Pleasant. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Monday, August 4, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Paul II Parish (St. Josaphat site), 469 Shattuck Road, Saginaw. Rev. Fr. James W. Bessert will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Sunday from 1:00-6:00 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service will take place at 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
