Bain, Lloyd W. (Whitey), Saginaw, Michigan


Passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at HealthSource Saginaw. Age 96 years. Mr. Bain was born on February 13, 1918, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late John and Isabella (Dick) Bain. Lloyd was married to Lenda L. Gobel on February 17, 1951, in Saginaw. She survives him. He had served in the U. S. Navy during WWII. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Michigan National Bank for over 40 years, retiring as Assistant V.P. Lloyd was a faithful member of Holy Cross Ev. Lutheran Church, where he had served on various boards. His memberships included Germania and Bridgeport Country Clubs, Kiwanis and the Pulaski Club. Lloyd enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing cards in his spare time, as well as, listening and watching his favorite sporting events. Surviving besides his wife, Lenda, are their son and daughter and their spouses, Dennis (Dawn) Bain, IA, Patrice (Brian) Wilson, IL, two granddaughters, Maddie and Kassie; many nieces and nephew. He was also predeceased by four sisters and two brothers, Elsie, Janet, Betty, Isabel, James and John. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Ev. Lutheran Church, 600 Court St. The Rev. James Krueger will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, on Monday from 2:00-8:00 p.m., then at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be given to Holy Cross Ev. Lutheran Church.
