Allen, Lydia L., Saginaw Township, Michigan

Passed away Monday, June 30, 2014 at the age of 90 years. Lydia Lillian Bechtel was born March 5, 1924 in Burt to the late Jacob and Frances (Reb) Bechtel. She married Richard D. Allen July 27, 1946. He survives her. Lydia had worked at the Gun Plant during World War II, Severance Tool Company, and then Lufkin Rule before her retirement. She loved to play baseball when she was younger. She also enjoyed fishing, painting, cooking, baking, and floral arranging. Lydia especially enjoyed time with her family and was very close to her siblings. Surviving besides her husband Richard are her daughter Karla Gorden and Timothy, her grandson James Richard Gorden, one brother Richard (Doris) Bechtel, two sisters; Carolyn Leatherwood and Teresa (Walter) Midcalf, nieces, nephews, and many other loving family members and friends. The family wishes to especially thank Lydia's niece Terri for her life-giving contribution. The family also thanks Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care during Lydia's final days. Chaplain Doug Bassett will officiate the funeral service on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at the Reitz Herzberg Funeral Home, 1550 S. Midland Road (S. M-47). Entombment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Mausoleum. The family welcomes friends to visit at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Memorial offerings are suggested to Heartland Hospice.
