Steltzriede, Henry Rupp (Hank), Carrollton Township, Michigan


Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Select Specialty Hospital in Saginaw, after a lengthy illness. Age 82 years. Henry (Hank) R. Steltzriede was born on March 20, 1930, to the late Walter and Esther (Rupp) Steltzriede. He married Clara Elenor Dierich on August 4, 1951. She survives him. Prior to his retirement, Hank owned and operated Hank’s Flowerland for 25 years, retiring in 1996. He was a founding member of Messiah Lutheran Church, past president of Carrollton Lions Club, active on the Carrollton Athletic Assoc., Germania Town and Country Club and many of its boards, and Michigan State Florist Assoc. He enjoyed baseball, football, golf, bowling, skiing, and swimming. He has traveled around the world. His yearly vacation was Traverse City and Riverview, FL. Surviving are his two children, Craig Steltzriede, Saginaw, MI; and Julie (Kreutzer) Steltzriede, Sharon, PA; two granddaughters, Amanda and Andrea Kreutzer, and many nieces of nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Lois Goetz. The family wishes to express their loving gratitude to Lorraine Weiss, Don and Betty Weiss and Sue Kisser. Funeral and committal services will take place on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 4640 N. Michigan Ave. in Carrollton Twp. The Rev. Philip DeVries will officiate. Private family burial will follow at a later date in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave., on Thursday from 1:00-8:00 p.m., then at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
