Smith, RoseMarie Avedisian, Saginaw, Michigan

The little woman with the big smile and heart went home to God on November 19, 2013. She was born at St. Mary’s Hospital on August 8, 1928 to the late David and Veronica (Poloolian) Avedisian. She attended Hoyt Elementary, Central Jr. High and Saginaw High School, graduating the class of 1946. She studied band and played the flute and sang in school as well as with her father who was the original and last charter member of the Saginaw Eddy Band. She worked for a time at the Rescue Mission Thrift Store before becoming a homemaker. She enjoyed ice skating and sledding at Hoyt Park in her younger days; also riding her bike and walking downtown to the old farmer’s market, Kresge Dime Store, Saginaw Photo and all the downtown department stores. She regularly visited the Model Bakery to chat with friends and enjoy the pastries. Her hobbies were drawing and taking pictures and making copies of pictures by using the sun. RoseMarie had a smile that could light the darkest night and was proud to be of Armenian descent and always kept an American Flag in her bedroom. She warmly enjoyed her friendship with the late Mr. and Mrs. George Anderson (Saginaw Eddy Band) and her special friendship with the two people she loved very much: Herb and Mary Spence. She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Tateos and Arousyag (Baylarian) Poloolian, Aaron and Nazley (Bagdigian) Avedisian, her parents, her uncles and aunts, Jacob and Sarah Avedisian, Johnny Avedisian, an infant brother Albert Avedisian, her husband William J. Smith and a cousin Harold Avedisian. She is survived by her Aunt Arpin Avedisian, cousins Ruth Avedisian-Keen and Robert Bagdigian. She leaves to cherish her only son William “Billy” Avedisian Rodriguez. Her son would like to express his gratitude to all those who cared for his mother at Covenant Harrison ICU Unit and all the nursing staff on the 8th floor Select Specialty Care Unit, and all the nurses with who waited with him with compassion and understanding in the hours leading to her passing. The family would also like to thank the Shiavone family and Saginaw Mental Health Staff for the care they gave RoseMarie for many years. A committal service was held on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The Rev. Daniel Cannon officiated. Arrangements by W. L. Case and Company.
