Simpson, Rita E., Saginaw, Michigan


Passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Age 84 years. Rita E. Klemm was born on August 6, 1928, in Saginaw, to the late Martin and Mathilda (Winterstein) Klemm. She was married to Charles M. Simpson on May 29, 1948, and he predeceased her on May 28, 1998. Prior to her retirement, Rita had worked as a sales clerk for Cunningham’s Drug Store and RiteAid for many years. Surviving are her two sons and two daughters, Gary Simpson (Sharon Geiger), St. Paul, MN; Maris Lambert, Bartlett, IL; Kurt Simpson, Saginaw; Lynn Ball (Dave Cushman), Saginaw; nine grandchildren, Lara (Jeremy) Pischke, Oakdale, MN; Elena Geiger-Simpson, Minneapolis, MN; Krista Geiger-Simpson (fiancé Andy Dickenson), Blaine, MN; David (Jamie) Simpson, Saginaw; Michael Simpson (Mary Gauthier), Saginaw; Ashley Simpson, Saginaw; Mandi (Jeff) Ford, Oswego, IL; Kari (Tom) Williams, Bartlett, IL; Mark Ball, Saginaw; ten great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Cadence, Madison, Carson, Kaylee, Nathaniel, James, Alex, Evan, and Garrett; sister-in-law, Evelyn Moore, Bradenton, FL; brother-in-law, Will Remus, Clarkston, MI; also several cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents, husband and her daughter-in-law, Trudy Simpson, son-in-law, John Lambert, two brothers and their spouses, Elmer and Irene Klemm, Norman and Margaret Klemm. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2nd and Federal Sts. Pastor Michael Kemper will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave., on Friday from 2:00-8:00 p.m., then at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be given to St. John’s Lutheran Church Breakfast for the Hungry Fund.
