Shinaver, Janice A., Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away unexpectedly Sunday, October 27, 2013 at her home. Age 60 years. The daughter of the late Herbert and Delores (Vital) Straebel, Jan was born July 24, 1953 in Bay City, Michigan. She was previously married to Paul Robertson. On March 30, 1990, Jan married Larry Shinaver, her loving husband of 23 years. He survives her. She was employed at St. Maryís of Michigan as a medical clerk for 27 years. In 2002, Jan began working for Dr. Thomas Damuth until her retirement in July of this year. She enjoyed reading, riding the motorcycle, spending time at Lake George and going to the casino. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and grandson. Surviving besides her husband Larry are one son, Matthew Robertson, Saginaw; a grandson, Gregory, who was the apple of her eye; one step-daughter, Gloria Shinaver, Freeland; two brothers and one sister, Herbert Straebel, III, Florida; Margo (Richard) Wyatt, Florida; Greg (Bambi) Straebel, Saginaw; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Freeland United Methodist Church, 205 E. Washington Street, Freeland. Rev. Jaye Reisinger will officiate. Honoring Janís wishes, cremation will follow. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Wednesday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. and at Freeland United Methodist Church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
