Rokita, Joseph A., Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013 at his home. Age 86 years. Son of the late Adam and Victoria (Moskal) Rokita, Joseph was born October 1, 1926 in Saginaw, Michigan. He was a graduate of Saginaw High School Class of 1944. He served in the U.S. Army in the Military Police during WWII. He married Barbara (Joanne) Tyburski. She predeceased him in 1957. He then married Marian DuFore on April 19, 1958. She survives him. Joseph was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 39 years. Joseph was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing cards and building. Surviving besides his wife Marian are one daughter, four sons and their spouses, Greg and Janet Rokita, Hale; James and Linda Rokita, Mason; Suzanne and Mark Rouech, Freeland; Robert Rokita, Saginaw; Christopher Rokita, Saginaw; 10 grandchildren, Owen and Emma Rokita, Elizabeth Rokita, April and Samantha Jo Rouech, Daniel Eastman, Annie Simpson, Christopher, Erik and William Rokita; five sisters, Helen Zolinski, Gertrude Taylor, Monica Kucher, Theodora (Jack) Sullivan, Geraldine (Len) LeFevre; many nieces and nephews. Joseph was preceded in death by one son, Steven Rokita; two sisters and one brother, Clare Wehan, Henrietta Wlodarski and Alphonse Rokita. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Randy Kelly will officiate. Burial will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Military Services conducted by American Legion Post #439. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Tuesday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and a St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
