Porath, Camilla A., Saginaw, Michigan


Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Covenant Healthcare Cooper. Age 86 years. The daughter of the late Amos and Esther (Lynch) Abbey, Camilla was born September 4, 1926 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Erwin V. Porath on November 25, 1948. He predeceased her July 29, 2011. Camilla graduated from St. Andrew High School in 1944. She was employed at Michigan Bell Telephone for many years and had met many of her closest friends there. She and Erwin had retired to Sterling, Michigan following their retirement from their family portrait studio. Camilla was a past member of Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church in Standish. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and being with her family. Surviving are five sons, one daughter and their spouses, Michael and Pamela Porath, Hopewell Junction, New York; Curtis and Fay Porath, Swartz Creek; Sue and William Berg, Saginaw; Mark and Sue Porath, Saginaw; David and Stephanie Porath, Saginaw; Dan and Diane Porath, Saginaw; 11 grandchildren, Stephen, Patrick, Elizabeth, Julie (Allen), Christine, Lindsay, Shauna, Meghan, Gregory, Eric and Hannah; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Camilla was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Abbey. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Monday, May 13, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Randy Kelly will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Sunday from 1:00-5:00 p.m. and at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass.
