Pogue, Raymond L., Bridgeport, Michigan


Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at the Aleda E. Lutz V.A. Medical Center. Age 86 years. The son of the late Earl and Sylvia (Wyrick) Pogue, Ray was born January 10, 1927 in Battle Creek, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. Ray married Marylyn (Moon) Katz on October 11, 1952. She survives him. He was employed as a carpenter for many years. Ray was very good at fixing things and was often generous in sharing his talent with family and friends. Surviving besides his wife Marylyn are two sons, one daughter and their spouses, Randy Pogue, Bridgeport; Karen and Julio Medina, Burt; David and Emily Pogue, Syracuse, Utah; a daughter-in-law, Melissa Pogue, Saginaw; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Veazey, Chattanooga, Tennessee; Linda (George) Cox, Ooltewah, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by a son, Gary Pogue, a daughter-in-law, Nancy Pogue, and by one an infant brother, Joseph Pogue, and by one sister, Dorothy Runyan. Ray’s family extends their appreciation and gratitude to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Aleda E. Lutz V.A. Medical Center for the loving and compassionate care they gave to him. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Monday, June 3, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Christopher Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. John Mancini, O.S.F.S. will officiate. Interment will follow in with burial in Birch Run Cemetery where military honors will be presented by American Legion Post #439. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Sunday from 12:00-6:00 p.m. and at St. Christopher Catholic Church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. There will be a Vigil Service at 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
