Ozerajtys, Leonard Richard, Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Monday, November 18, 2013 at the Aleda E. Lutz Palliative Care Center. Age 88 years. Son of the late John and Clara (Krzyzaniak) Ozerajtys, Leonard was born September 3, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and a member of V.F.W. Post #1566. Leonard married Maxine C. McDonald, his loving wife of 60 years on June 27, 1949. She predeceased him February 13, 2010. Leonard was employed as a stockroom clerk for Eaton Corporation with 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, St George site and its men’s club. Leonard was also a member of the Koscuiszko Club. Surviving are two sons and three daughters, Lenny and Shawn Ozerajtys, John and Lori Ozerajtys, Janice and Jim Ward, Charlotte and Pat Beatty, Irene and George Allison; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bernadine Skultel, Irene Leitz; two brothers, Gerald and Laura Spitz, Ronald and Valorie Spitz; several nieces and nephews. Leonard was preceded in death by his step-parents, Adolph and Helen Sakowski; two sisters and two brothers, Irene Ozerajtys, Virginia Spitz, Adolph and Michael Sakowski. Honoring Mr. Ozerajtys’s wishes cremation has taken place. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, St. Anthony site, 3680 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Thomas Schmeid OFM Cap. will officiate with Military Services conducted by American Legion Post #439. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Thursday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass.
