Martinez, Jesse William, Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, son and brother passed away on Friday, November 29, 2013. Age 27 years. The son of Carlos and Cindy (Hartman) Martinez, Jesse was born on September 2, 1986 in Alma, Michigan. He married Sara Peeples on May 28, 2011. She survives him along with his son William. Jesse was a very loving and devoted father and the true apple of his eye was his son, William. He was a graduate of Saginaw Valley State University. Jesse was a teacher of Social Studies and History at the International Academy of Flint. He was an alumnus of Tau Kappa Epsilon. He enjoyed traveling, was a huge supporter of Detroit Red Wings, U of M, Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions. Jesse was very proud of his Mexican heritage and was a huge participant of the Great Lakes Bay Region Hispanic Leadership Institute. He enjoyed spending time with his favorite canine companion, Jack. Surviving besides his wife Sara is his son, William; his parents, Carlos and Cindy Martinez; three brothers, Joshua Martinez, Lansing; James (Jill) Martinez, Honolulu, Hawaii; Jonathan Martinez, Williamsburg, Virginia; his grandmother, Nina Hartman, Shepherd; two nephews, Jonathan Martinez II, Myron Lobsinger; two nieces, Naya and Elena Martinez; many uncles, aunts and cousins. Jesse was preceded in death by a brother, Jordan Martinez; his grandparents, Raymond Hartman, Manual Martinez, Sr., Esperanza (Hope) Martinez; a great-grandmother, Laura Zelis; aunts and uncles, Susan Merchand, Helen Cortez, Guadalupe Martinez, Manual Martinez. Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty). Pastor Mary Kay Dyer will officiate. Interment will take place immediately after in Salt River Cemetery in Shepherd, Michigan. A luncheon will take place at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church Parish Hall, 168 Wright Ave. in Shepherd following the committal service. Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present on Thursday from 3:00-7:00 p.m., on Friday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the wishes of the family.
