LaPan, Patsy, Bridgeport, Michigan


Beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away Friday, September 13, 2013 at the Cartwright Hospice Residence surrounded by her family. Age 78 years. The daughter of the late Carl and Irene (Wilber) Bremer, Patsy was born March 15, 1935 in Saginaw, Michigan. She graduated from Saginaw High School in 1954. She married Franklin (Dave) LaPan, her loving husband of 58 years, on October 2, 1954. He survives her. Patsy was employed at Bridgeport Schools as a baker for nearly 20 years until her retirement in 1997. She also created and baked the most beautiful wedding and graduation cakes for family and friends. Patsy was a member of Bridgeport Community Church. She enjoyed watching the birds and caring for her dogs, Muffin and Baby. Patsy enjoyed many years in the “birthday club”, spending time at the cottage and going to the casino. Most of all, she loved being with her family. Surviving besides her husband Dave are one daughter and one son, Rosemarie LaPan (Joe Roberts); David and Michelle LaPan; two grandchildren, Nicole LaPan and Sean Foster; two brothers and two sisters, James, Art, Catherine and Evelyn; many nieces and nephews; also surviving are many dear friends including Russ Dupuis, Betty Rubert, Marlyn Roe, Jan Metiva and Ann Lash. Patsy was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, Tom, Helen, Edward and Marion. Patsy’s family extends their gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Ernie Balcueva and his staff for the loving care they provided. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Bridgeport Community Church, 3821 State Street in Bridgeport. Pastor Ron Sinclair will officiate. Honoring Mrs. LaPan’s wishes, cremation will follow. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Tuesday from 1:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. and at Bridgeport Community Church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
