Kolak, Martin J., Saginaw, Michigan

Our beloved father and amazing grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at St. Mary’s of Michigan Medical Center. Age 90 years. The son of the late Andrew and Katarzyna (Przwoznik) Kolak, Martin was born April 18, 1923 in Hemlock, Michigan. He married Bernice C. Stedry on February 16, 1946. She predeceased him November 9, 1996. Martin was active in farming for many years. He was employed at Grey Iron Foundry and retired from Cisco as a diesel mechanic in 1988. Martin was a member of St. Norbert Catholic Church and its Usher’ and Men’s Club. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are three daughters, three sons and their spouses, Suzanne and Terry VanPelt, West Lawn, Pennsylvania; Doris and Charlie Arnold, Jacksonville, Florida; Jennifer and Mike Reed, East Tawas; Andy and Mary Kolak, Bay City; Jim and Sue Kolak, Reese; Tony and Sherrie Kolak, Madison, Mississippi; 22 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren with two more on the way; two sisters, Mary Laundra, Saginaw; Dorothy Zuzula, Bay City; many nieces and nephews. Martin was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters, John Kolak, Ann Rigda, Irene (Jean) Bauer and Joann Donnelly. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Norbert Catholic Church in Munger, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Joseph Schabel will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Friday from 1:00-8:00 p.m. and at St. Norbert Catholic Church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass.
