Hozer, Sarah Janet, Formerly of, Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved mother and grandmother passed away Monday, July 29, 2013. Age 89 years. The daughter of the late Augustus and Lizzie (Kauffman) Jackson, Sarah was born in Campbell Township, Michigan. She married Casmir R. (Casey) Hozer on July 23, 1943. He predeceased her December 12, 1999. Sarah graduated from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan at the age of 18 in 1941. Eventually she went to summer school over several years to receive her Masterís Degree while at the same time raising five children. Janet excelled at being a teacher for over 45 years before retiring from the Saginaw Independent School District. While teaching 5th grade for most of her career Janet found joy and satisfaction in assisting students to improve their remedial reading skills by formulating interesting ways for the students to learn while having fun. Janet also enjoyed playing Duplicate Bridge where she won numerous tournaments in the Saginaw area and was recognized as an accomplished Master Bridge player. Surviving are four daughters, one son and their spouses, Carolyn Rae Hozer and Jim Cunningham, Fairfield Glade, Tennessee; Susan J. and Ronald Miziker, Toluca Lake, California; Christine and Edward Brengman, Saginaw; Casey R. and Debra Maith Hozer, Dallas, Texas; Debbie and Mike Mason, Ramona, California; seven grandchildren, Frank Frugone, Sarah Brengman, Eddie Brengman, Casey (Ryan) Hozer, Nathan Hozer, Katie Mason, Casmir Mason; three sisters, Marie (Roy) Crawford, Adeline Stark and Grace Kenyon; several nieces and nephews. Sarah was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Bay City, Michigan. Rev. Fr. James Gavit and Sister Virginia Scally, SNDdeN, will officiate the funeral rite. Entombment will take place in Oakwood Mausoleum. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Friday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Bay City on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. There will be a Prayer Service at 4:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
