Hagerty, Joseph H., Irons, MI, Formerly of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away peacefully Wednesday August 7, 2013 at his home. Age 67 years. The son of the late Howard and Dorothy Hagerty, Joe was born February 5, 1946 in Saginaw, Michigan. Joe (Doc) was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served in the LRRP/Rangers of the 1st Calvary. Joe received the Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star, Vietnamese Unit Citation, the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with a Silver Star and two Bronze Stars, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), the Army Commendation Medal, and the Purple Heart. He was a past member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and was a lifetime member of the D.A.V. He married Patricia Premo on January 21, 1967. She survives him. Joe was employed at General Motors for 30 years until his retirement. In his retirement, he enjoyed fishing, boating, spending time with his family, renovating houses and he liked to putter around in his garage. Surviving besides his wife, Patricia are three sons and their spouses, Anthony (Lisa), Jason (Dama), and Ryan (Monica); he also leaves behind four grandchildren, Grace, Madison, Morgan, and Iris; three sisters, two brothers and their spouses; Jacqueline and Ronald Pung, Maureen and Todd Banning, John J. Hagerty, Timothy and Betty Hagerty and Anne and Lynn Oberg; also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Kersten. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. William R. Taylor will officiate. Military Honors will follow presented by V.F.W. Post #1859. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Sunday from 1:00-5:00 p.m. and at St. Matthew Catholic Church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass.
