Gruenberg, Louis, J., Essexville, Michigan

Beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Saturday, July 27, 2013 with his family at his side. Age 93 years. Son of the late Louis W. and Marjorie (Leach) Greenberg, Louis was born May 3, 1920 in Saginaw, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII with the 56th Fighter Group in Halesworth, England from 1942 to 1945 and a member of Michigan D.A.V. Louis married Bonnie J. Larive on August 2, 1947 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1997. She predeceased him July 31, 2003. He was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Essexville. Louis was employed for Prudential Insurance and Office Machine Sales until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting especially in his younger years with his wife, brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Charm Blaine. Louis also enjoyed fishing and camping. Surviving are one son, one daughter and their spouses, Geoffrey and Becky Gruenberg, Saginaw; Sandra Wright, Panama City, Florida; five grandchildren, Jessica Gruenberg and Samantha Gruenberg, Saginaw; Melissa Gruenberg, Royal Oak, Michigan; Christina (Jared) Tyler and Ashley E. Wright, Jr. Panama City, Florida; great-grandchildren, Dellamaree Elise Tyler and Roman Ross Tyler. Louis was preceded in death by one sister and one brother, Nadine and Robert Gruenberg. The family would like to thank the staff of Saginaw Senior Care Center for the excellent care they provided for their father during his final days. Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at 11:00 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty). Pastor Carl Trosien will officiate. Entombment will take place in Oakwood Memorial Mausoleum with Military Honors conducted by American Legion Post #439. Friends may call at the funeral home, where the family will be present on Tuesday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
