Her children arise and call her blessed… Our beloved mother went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 30, 2013 peacefully in her home surrounded by her many loved ones. Age 87 years. Daughter of the late Jesus and Valentina DeLeon, Romana was born November 14, 1925 in Allende Coahuila , Mexico. She was married to Elias Guerra Gonzalez on August 25, 1940. He predeceased her March 4, 1984. Surviving are her three sons and six daughters, Elias ( Gloria) Gonzalez, Arturo (Victoria) Gonzalez, Elodia Velez, Mary (Manuel) Salas, Yolanda Noriega, Orelia Torrez, Irene (Jesse) Ortiz, Richard (Debbie) Gonzalez and Teresa (Jeff) Landosky; one daughter-in-law, Gloria Gonzalez; thirty-two grandchildren; 99 great-grandchildren; 36 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Luz Rangel and Amarpo Garza; and many nieces and nephews who she loved. Romana was preceded in death by one son, Robert Gonzalez; two sons-in-law, Ismael “Tito” Velez and Juan Noriega; one granddaughter, Betty Delgado and six siblings, Felipe, Leanore, Ramon, Gustavo, Esperanza and Jose. The family would like to send a special “thank you” to Romana’s caregivers: her daughters, Orelia, Teresa, Gloria, Lollie and her granddaughters, Diana and Jessica and son-in-law, Jeff. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Thursday April 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at SS. Simon and Jude Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Thomas Schmied OFM Cap. will officiate with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and on Thursday at SS. Simon and Jude Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
