Glesmer, Richard, Thomas Township, Michigan

Passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013. Age 76 years. Richard was born October 29, 1936 in Altenau, Germany to Otto and Emma (Kretchmann) Glesmer. They predeceased him. He came to the United States at the age of 18 years old. He married Lois Ann Pries on May 11 1959. They were married 37 years. Lois passed away in 1996. Richard served in the United States Army for 2 years at Ft. Riley Kansas. He worked for General Motors at Saginaw Steering Gear as a tool and die maker (UAW 699) for 41 years. His co-workers knew him as "Dick", and his years working at the plant were his happiest. He retired from GM in 1999. Richard loved going camping and fishing, gardening, taking care of his yard, woodworking and spending time with his beloved dog Leo. He married Judy Payk on November 7, 1997. She survives him. Surviving also are his son and daughter from Lois; Richard (Robin) Glesmer and Michele (Rick) Skoog, six grandchildren; Jessica Glesmer, Brandon Glesmer, Derrick (Jessica) Glesmer, Kaitlyn (Alex) Lafata, Macayla Skoog and Rickey Skoog, Jr., four great grandchildren; Jordan Glesmer, Alvia Glesmer and Derrick Glesmer, Jr., and Andrew Lafata. Also surviving is his step family from Judy and many nieces and nephews. A quiet gathering in his honor at his own home was his wishes.
