Gembrowski, Anthony (Tony) E., Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away Friday, September 27, 2013. Age 83 years. Anthony Edward Gembrowski was born June 9, 1930 in Saginaw to the late George and Katherine (Gaborek) Gembrowski. He married Sharon (Hargash) Fliegel in 1972. She survives him. Tony was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Saginaw. His hobbies included fishing and bird watching. He attended St. Rita's grade school in Saginaw and graduated from St. Joseph's High School in 1948. Tony began his working career in 1944 at Home Dairy/Park-N-Shop. He then worked for Vescio Supermarkets for 29 years, and later Apple Valley Health Foods Store, a subsidiary of Andrews University in Berrian Springs for eight years. He was also employed by Foodland Supermarket of Chesaning for three years, Detroit City Dairy for ten years, and Rifkin Steel Co. for ten years. In 1995, Tony served as a volunteer for the Citizens Network for Foreign Affairs, a federal agency, to initiate the opening of American style supermarkets in Vladivostoc, Russia. Surviving besides his wife are one son, two daughters, and one step-daughter; Martin (Sharon) Gembrowski, Abby Gembrowski, Pamela (Matt) Mabry, and Susan (Rob) Tanke, 12 grandchildren; Richard Mabry, Andrew Mabry, Brittany Tanke, Stephany Ransom, and Grace, Mary, Claire, Anne, Luke, Adam, Peter, and Matthew Gembrowski, a brother-in-law Paul Hargash, and several nieces and nephews. Tony was predeceased by three siblings; Edward (Hilda) Gembrowski, Angeline (Stewart) Burke, and Andrew Leo (Jan) Gembrowski. Funeral service will take place on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at the Reitz Herzberg Funeral Home, 1550 S. Midland Road (S. M-47). Pastor Benjamin Garcia will officiate. Entombment will take place at Chapel Hill Mausoleum on Monday, September 30, 2013. Friends and family will gather at the funeral home on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings are suggested to Seventh Day Adventist Church of Saginaw.
