Franz, Robert J., Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Covenant HealthCare Cooper. Age 88 years. The son of the late Martin and Elsie (Oldenburg) Franz , Bob was born December 23, 1924 in Saginaw, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II where he earned four Bronze Battle Stars. He married Bernice Bess Pasterz on November 29, 1947. She predeceased him August 11, 2010. Bob was an electrician for many years in the Saginaw area. Bob was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and was a past Grand Knight for Knights of Columbus Council #4232. Bob was also a member M46 Cruisers, Cars of the Past and American Legion Post #439. He enjoyed attending his garden and his fruit trees. Surviving are five daughters, Linda Franz and her special friend James Morris, San Antonio, Texas; Mary Jane and Bill Lauman, Point Lookout, Michigan; Jacqueline Franz, Las Vegas, Nevada; Brigitte and Bob Fowler, Farmington Hills, Bernice M. Franz, South Lyon; seven grandchildren, Amy, Melissa, Jenny, Jeff, Christie, Ashley and Austin; four great-grandsons, Anthony Christopher, Nicholas and Adam. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Randy Kelly will officiate. Burial will take place in St. Andrew Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by American Legion Post #439 and Michigan National Guard. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Michigan Parkinson Foundation.
