Finzel, Sally A., Auburn, Michigan

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away Friday, April 5, 2013 at her home. The daughter of the late James and Mary (Wheldrick) Vivian, Sally was born in Detroit, Michigan. She married James Finzel, her loving husband of 57 years, on June 25, 1955. He survives her. Sally earned her Bachelor’s Degree and her Master’s Degree in Education from Saginaw Valley State University and was a member of the SVSU Gourmet Club. She taught at McGregor Elementary School in Bay City for 17 years until her retirement. Sally enjoyed embroidery and was a lifetime member of the Embroiders Guild of America and Kindred Spirits Bead Society in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She had made over 50 trips to England and enjoyed going to the theatre and spending time at the Chippewa Nature Center. Surviving besides her husband James are two sons, Mark Finzel, Haslett, Michigan; David and Lisa (Fischer) Finzel, Saginaw; two grandchildren, Benjamin and Alex Finzel; a brother, James and Donna Vivian, Dearborn; several nieces and nephews. Honoring Mrs. Finzel’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty). Mr. David MacGregor will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Embroiders Guild of America or The Chippewa Nature Center.
