Edwards, Charles E., Saginaw, Michigan


Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at his home. Age 90 years. The son of the late Samuel and Palma (Barger) Edwards, Charles was born on November 28, 1922 in Martinsville, Indiana. Charles was a sergeant in the United States Army during WWII. He married Esther Miller, his loving wife of 67 years, on March 2, 1946. She survives. Charles worked as a Millwright for Saginaw Malleable Iron for more than 30 years retiring in 1985. He enjoyed golf, baseball, deer hunting, crossword puzzles, traveling with his family, reading and was an avid sports fan especially the Detroit Tigers. He was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Athletic Association. Surviving besides his wife Esther are 11 children, Anne (Butch) Keyser, Michael Edwards, Richard (Patty) Edwards, Mary (Roger) Hulett, Karen (Tony) Alexander, Gerald Edwards, Charles (Rosemary) Edwards, Janet (Jim) Keeler, Martha (Fred) Buxman, John (Jeri) Edwards and Steve Edwards, 34 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty and Martha; one grandchild, Michael Charles. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Helen Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Emmett Marceau will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Andrew Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the United States Army. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. The family will pray the Rosary and Share Memories at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
