Czerney, Arthur W., Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Thursday, December 12, 2013 at HealthSource Saginaw. Age 91 years. The son of the late John and Amelia (Meyer) Czerney, Art was born February 9, 1922 in Murdo, South Dakota. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WW II and then served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves for 24 years. Art married Shirley Jean Newman on June 30, 1949. She predeceased him January 10, 1999. He was employed at Saginaw Steering Gear for 34 years until his retirement in 1984. Art was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and was active in the church bingo. Surviving are two daughters and one son, Christine and Gerald Jones, Saginaw; Diane Czerney and her husband Robert Hartung, Saginaw; David A. Czerney, Midland; five grandchildren, Jeffrey (Shannon) Jones, Lori Jones, Nicholas (Mary) Hartung, Robert (Roxanne) Czerney and Jason (Jennifer) Czerney; six great-grandchildren, Hunter, Sandra, Connor, Shannon, Carson and Autumn Joy; several nieces and nephews. Art was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Czerney and two sisters and two brothers, Florence Schoenoover, Dorothy Carrington, John and Joe Czerney. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church - St. Casimir site, 2122 S. Jefferson, Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Thomas Schmied OFM Cap. will officiate. Entombment will take place in St. Andrew Mausoleum with Military Services conducted by V.F.W. Post #1859. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Monday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. There will be a Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
