Cooper, James E. (Coop), Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and son passed away peacefully Thursday, March 7, 2013 at his home. Age 63 years. The son of Genevieve (Poineau) Cooper and the late Kenneth J. Cooper, Jim was born August 31, 1949 in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Connie L. Ott on March 20, 1993 and would have celebrated 20 years of marriage this month. He was a member of U.A.W. Local #699 and was employed as a tinsmith at Delphi Steering Gear for 39 years until his retirement. Jim was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church and enjoyed bowling, golfing, woodworking, fishing at his cottage, hot air ballooning in New Mexico and watching the kids’ sports. Surviving besides his wife Connie are his children, Edward Cooper, Demian (Nicole) Cooper, Robert Cooper, Nate (Melissa) Hebl, Amy (Mark) Miller; grandchildren, Roman (Britney), Michael, Jordan, Ashlyn, Braylon and Keenan Cooper, Landon Miller and Katelyn Hebl; great-grandchildren, Lilliana and Tony Cooper; Jim’s mother, Genevieve Cooper; a brother, Jerry (Meredith) Cooper; mother-in-law, Blanche Ott; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Brian and Kathy Ott, Carolyn Wiltse; many nieces and nephews and special friends including Diane and Billy Nichols. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth J. Cooper, his father-in-law, Glenn Kenneth Ott, and by a nephew, Timothy Ott. Jim’s family extends their special thanks and gratitude to Ekko and Suzanne from Hospice of Hope Lutheran Homes of Michigan. Funeral service will take place on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church (Court & Bond Streets). Pastor Carl Otto will officiate with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Sunday from 1:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. and at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Monday from noon until time of service.
