Brown, Frederick C., Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved father and grandfather passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the Saginaw Geriatrics Home. Age 83 years. Son of the late Maurice and Helen (Steggall) Brown, Frederick was born November 29, 1929 in Freeport, Illinois. He was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School Class of 1947, attended Colgate University Class of 1951 and a member of Theta Chi. He served with the 7th Division of the U.S. Army in the Korean War. Frederick married Greta L. Myers on June 12, 1954. She predeceased him. January 12, 2013. Frederick joined Saginaw Central Oil on his return to Saginaw, where he served as manager for many years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Fred was active for many years in Saginaw Civic Affairs, Junior Chamber of Commerce Board member, vice president and was presented the Distinguished Service Award in 1963. He was also past president of Northwest Kiwanis and past president of Saginaw Fuel Oil Dealers Association. Surviving are three sons and their spouses, Jeffrey and Diane Brown, David and Jackie Brown, Saginaw; Kurt F. Brown, Rockford; Fred’s grandchildren, Kurtis, Abigail, Jennifer, Matthew, Megan and Bret; two nieces. Fred was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Brown Osborn. Honoring Mr. Brown’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, June 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty). Rev. Walter David will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present on Thursday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Alzheimer’s Association or Heartland Hospice.
