Zeitler, Lloyd Casper, Merrill, Michigan


Devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend- passed away on April 16, 2012. Age 85 years. Lloyd was born December 21, 1926 in Merrill, the son of the late Casper and Hulda (Kade) Zeitler. He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hemlock. He graduated from Merrill High School in 1944. While in high school, he delivered milk to the Merrill-Hemlock area for the Jonesfield Diary owned by his father. He then enlisted in the navy and served until the end of the war. In 1948 he married Alice Dvorak where together, they farmed until retirement. They raised four children: Sue (Norm) Tompkins and Jan Zeitler of Midland, Dave (Pam) Zeitler of Merrill and Jill (Steve Phillippi) Zeitler of Wilmington, Del. He loved his family and enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were his pride and joy. Surviving besides his wife of 63 years and four children are five grandchildren: Brent (Megan) Tompkins, Kelli (Mike) Meyer, Karri (Ben) Palmer, Brian Zeitler, and April (Terri) Mullen. Also, eight great-grandchildren: Mylah, Coy, and Claire Tompkins; Payton and Morgan Palmer; Dyllan and Carter Meyer; Grace and a new baby Mullen on the way. Also a brother, Ralph Zeitler, and many nieces and nephews and their families. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters and brothers in law-Hilda and Leonard Crawford, Alice and Bill Pahl, Harold Zeitler and great-granddaughter, Julia Mullen. Funeral services will take place on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 17927 Dice Road, Hemlock. Rev. Paul A. Hauser will officiate with burial at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Company, Merrill on Thursday from 2:00-4:00p.m. and 6:00-8:00p.m. and on Friday at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
