Young, Betty Jane (Campbell), Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away Sunday, April 8, 2012 at the Toni & Trish House in Auburn, Michigan. Age 81 years. Daughter of the late Parry and Arlene (Hutton) Campbell, Betty Jane was born April 22, 1930 in Boyne City, Michigan. She graduated from Boyne City High School. Betty was an Executive Secretary at Wickes Engineered Materials (U.S. Graphite) for 27 years. She has owned and operated Betty’s Typing Service for the last 15 years. Betty was active and held positions in Bridgeport Eagles, VFW Auxiliary 1566, Washington Society, and American Legion 8th District. She currently was an officer in American Legion Auxiliary #439, 40&8 Femmes Cabane 600 and United Veterans Council. Betty is survived by brothers, George (Sheri) Cadwell, Boyne City; George (June) Johnson, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Vicky Gilbert; sister-in-law, Sandy Smith; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her uncle, Bud Hutton; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her spouses, Thomas Gilbert and Dean Young; her daughter, Kathleen; her son, Rick Gilbert; sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Ken Ketchman; brother, Robert Campbell and longtime companion, John Walkowski. Honoring Mrs. Young’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial service will take place on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road, Saginaw. Rev. Douglas Kahl will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
