Winters, Katherine Wilhelmina, Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend passed away Monday, August 27, 2012 at Hoyt Nursing and Rehab center. Age 90 years. Katherine W. Small was born February 10, 1922 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Frederick and Katherine (Wressell) Small. She married Carl J. Winters, July 15, 1939, he was the “sunshine of her life”. He predeceased her, March 8, 1987. Katherine was a beautiful woman of heart as well as spirit. She had a beautiful heart with limitless love for sharing and joy. She had a gift for understanding and caring for everyone she met. She was an endearing and loyal friend to everyone she knew. She gave strength and provided comfort to everyone. She touched the hearts of all who will cherish her. She was an amazing person and she could lift your spirits with just a smile. She always had an ear to listen and a kind word for everyone. She lived a full life and was loved by many. Each person she met enhanced her life. She was gentle and gracious, forgiving and giving, loving and caring. She had a great sense of humor and a lot of Irish flair. Although, she will be greatly missed, she has left the world a brighter, more loving place. It is with sadness and reverence that we say good-bye as she pursues her next journey and re-unites with the “sunshine” of her life, “her Carl”. Her faith was strong, the iron of her soul. She was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church for many years and served on many of the women’s committees. She later became a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and has been for several years. She loved working on the farm with Carl, side by side they shared 47 loving years together. She loved gardening, reading and writing poetry. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her most precious gifts. She was their living angel.
