Volz, Patricia D. (Schmidt), Brant, Michigan

Passed away Friday, February 10, 2012. Age 69 years. Patricia D. Schmidt was born March 14, 1942 in Montrose, Michigan. Pat graduated from Merrill High School, and then went on to become an instructor of Cosmetology and a Cosmetologist for 13 years. She was one of the original founders of the Marion Township Fire Department. She then became a Medical First Responder on the department. She devoted herself to being a lovely wife, mother and Nana. Pat enjoyed being a homemaker. She also enjoyed camping and mostly spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Most recently she learned to use a cell phone and computer. Patricia married Herbert E. Volz, Jr. on October 7, 1967. He survives her. She also leaves her children, Brian K. (Sherry) Volz; Mary Lou (Dale) Valley; Herbert E. Volz III.(Chip) and his wife, Shelly; Thomas R. (Gail) Volz; 8 grandchildren, Melissa (Rick); Jessica; Jeremy; Charles; Lane; Wyatt; Herbert IV; Isabella; 2 great grandchildren, Tyler and Chloe; her brother and sister, Chester Schmidt, Nancy Jewell; her sisters-in-law, Donna, Lillie and Mary Schmidt, her brother-in-law, Norman Conklin; her special niece and nephew, Harley and Hunter, many family, friends and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Frances Schmidt, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lena and Herbert Volz, Sr; her brothers, Walter, Richard and Robert Schmidt; her sister, Antonia Conklin; her brother-in-law, Duane Jewell and a sister-in-law, Mary Arlene Schmidt and many dear nieces and nephews are waiting for her in Heaven. The funeral liturgy will take place on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 708 Sanderson St., St. Charles, MI. Rev. Todd Arnberg will officiate with burial in St. Theresa Cemetery, Marion Springs. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel in Merrill from 5:00-9:00 p.m. Sunday and noon-9:00 p.m. Monday where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Friends may then call at the Church from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the funeral liturgy. In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Marion Township Fire Department, Southern Care Hospice, Boy Scouts of America or their favorite charity.
