Siler, Evelyn K., Merrill, Michigan

She returned home to her Heavenly Father on Thursday, December 13, 2012. Age 88 years. The daughter of the late Harry W. and Theresa (Willing) Willis and her step-mother, Lenore Willis was born January 19, 1924, in Saginaw, Michigan. She married John H. Siler, November 28, 1942. He predeceased her, October 26, 2002. Surviving are eight children and their spouses, Gary Siler; John (Chico) and Mary Siler; Richard Siler; Gerry and Dean Lawrence; Mike and Karen Siler; Tom Siler, Christina Siler, and Pat Siler. Evelyn was also blessed with 24 Grandchildren, 31 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild; two brothers, two sisters, Gerald Willis, Norman Willis, Theresa Jerome and Dorothy Erskine; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Patricia Ann Siler, four sisters, Francis Levi, Josephine McMahon; Marion Siler and Lucille Sanocki Rogers. She enjoyed painting on canvas with oils or China Painting and raising her eight children. Evelyn was also a woman of prayer and service. She served her children, Grand children and her husband all of her living days and continued to pray for them all. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Merrill, Michigan where she taught catechism, and served on the Altar Society and was a part of the prayer chain. Another of her interests was Abortion Alternatives where she served for over 20 years sharing her love for life and praying for the mothers of the unborn. As Evelyn matured in her faith, she became a part of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Michigan along with her husband, John. They traveled all over Michigan to share their love for the Cross and their commitment to faith in God. When she lived at Swan Haven in Shields, Evelyn started a Life in the Spirit Seminar which turned into a Charismatic Meeting held weekly for the residents of Swan Haven. Evelyn’s fondest memories are of her family and friends and the many times she enjoyed there company at the family cottage on Eight Point Lake. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Monday, December 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Merrill. Fr. Craig Carolan and Deacon Jim Siler will officiate with burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, Merrill on Sunday from 2:00-5:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Butch Murphy officiating. Friends may then call on Monday at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral liturgy.
