Sherman, Lewis Howard, Merrill, Michigan

Passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012, at his home. Age 86 years. The son of the late Martha (Murphy) and Lewis William Sherman was born April 25, 1926 in Merrill, Michigan. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII and was a Life Member of the Hemlock-Merrill V.F.W. Post #7302. He married Mary Irene Stroiwas, October 2, 1948. She passed away March 15, 2009. He was employed by Dow Chemical Co., retiring in 1976 with thirty-three years of service. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Merrill, enjoyed hunting, woodworking and attending Merrill High School Sports. Surviving are five children and their spouses, Robert and Pam Sherman; Linda Midlam; Susan Dinehart; Michael and Lee Ann Sherman; Timothy and Karen Sherman; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; three brothers, one sister, Duane, James and David Sherman, June Honaman; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Gary Midlam, and two sisters, Mary Ann Luneack and Jacqueline May. The funeral liturgy will take place on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rev. Craig Carolan will officiate with Military burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the auspices of V.F.W. Post #7302. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel in Merrill from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday and then on Friday at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral liturgy.
