Sharpe, Donald J., Essexville, MI, Formerly of Reese, Michigan

Beloved father and grandfather passed away Monday, February 13, 2012 at the Toni and Trish House. Age 80 years. Donald was born June 1, 1931 in Saginaw Michigan. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve for 15 years. Donald was married to Lorentine (Lorie) Ozark on December 2, 1950 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She predeceased him February 26, 2006. Donald was employed by the railroad industry for 38 years retiring in 1989 from CSX Railroad. He was the president of Brotherhood of Railway Airline Clerks for over 30 years, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 593, American Legion Post #439, Brothers of Koscuiszko, and past president of St. Hedwigs Society. Don enjoyed bingo, bowling, golfing, hunting and going to the casinos. Surviving are three daughters, Linda Ann and Larry Lapak, Reese; Bonnie Sharpe and Gregory Talik, Hope; Gerrie Lynn and Tom Bartlett, Saginaw; his grandchildren, Don and Nancy Merrow, Rebecca Merrow and her fiancé, Anthony Beecher, Andrew and Rebecca Talik, Kevin Talik, Jared and Colleen Talik; his step-grandson, Larry and Dawn Lapak; great-grandchildren, Trevor Clark, Catherine Merrow, Hunter, Joseph and Logan Talik; step-great-grandchildren, Brittney Andrus, Jennifer and Jarrod Turk, Skylar , Trinity and Caden Lambert, Tyler and Tanner Lapak; one step-great-great granddaughter, Brienna Bess: his lifelong friends, Bill and Shirley Richter and a special “cousin”, John Cuthbertson. Donald was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin and Jimmy; an infant sister and brother; two half-sisters, June Poineau and June Wittemeir; two half-brothers, Robert and Jack Leon Sharpe; and a son-in-law, Earl C. Merrow. Funeral Service will take place on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty). Dawn and Dan McKune will officiate. Burial will take place in Roselawn Memorial Mausoleum with Military Services conducted by American Legion Post #439. Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
