Samalik, John J. (Jack), Breckenridge, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Monday, March 26, 2012 at his home. Age 77 years. The son of the late Rudy and Virginia Samalik, John was born November 3, 1934 in Bay City, Michigan. He married Janet Miller, his loving wife of 47 years, on December 24, 1964. She survives him. John was employed at General Motors Corp. for 24 years until his retirement. He was a member of Assumption B.V.M. Catholic Church in Larkin Township, Michigan. John enjoyed fishing and working on his cars. Most of all, he loved being with family and friends. Surviving besides his wife Janet are two sons, Kenneth and Lisa Samalik, Freeland; Jeffrey and Annette Samalik, Ringgold, Georgia; four grandchildren, Kelly Lyvere and her husband Bob, Stacy Samalik, Joseph Samalik, Franklin Samalik and his wife Ashley; two great-grandchildren, Aiden James and Ryan Joseph Samalik; one brother, Dick and Cheryl Suchodolski; two sisters, Pat Nord, Virginia and Bob Kramer; a sister-in-law, Pat and Chet Doughty; special friends, Gary and Pam Amiels; several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by an infant son, Jerry, and by two brothers. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty). Rev. Fr. Kevin Maksym will officiate. Honoring Mr. Samalik’s wishes, cremation will follow. Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present on Wednesday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
