Ruger, Janet L., Saginaw, Michigan


After a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away August 29, 2012 at the Cartwright Hospice Residence. Age 75 years. The daughter of the late Louis and Erma (Haack) Ciolek, Janet was born July 7, 1937 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married William L. Ruger, her loving husband of nearly 50 years, on September 7, 1963. He survives her. Janet was employed at the Saginaw Public Library and the Central Michigan University Library. She later joined her husband, Bill, at Technical Business Services. Janet was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church and the League of Catholic Women. She served as Secretary of the John and Rose Watson Scholarship Foundation, a board member of the Childrenís Christmas Store, member of the Saginaw Serra Club and an active volunteer at St. Stephen Parish and School. Janet enjoyed keeping in touch with family, sewing, reading and shopping for her children and grandchildren. Surviving besides her husband Bill are two daughters, two sons and their spouses, Carolyn and Jim Gosen, Saginaw; Keith Ruger and Maggie Sian, Saginaw; Eric and Elizabeth Ruger, Saginaw; Karen and Travis Kilpatrick, Kennesaw, Georgia; 10 grandchildren, Cody Ruger, Tori and Amber Lynch, Alyssa, Kaitlyn, and Zachary Ruger, and Madison Rose, Ashton, Braden and Keegan Kilpatrick; two great-grandchildren, Mollie and Macie Ruger; a brother, Donald and Ruth Ciolek; two sisters-in-law, Jean (James) Seman, Elizabeth Crandall; several nieces and nephews. Janetís family extends their appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Ernie Balcueva, Dr. Paul Kocheril and their staff as well as the Cartwright Hospice Residence for the loving care they gave to Janet. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. William R. Taylor will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road, (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Tuesday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and at St. Stephen Catholic Church on Wednesday 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. There will be a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
