Reimer, John F., Palmetto, FL, Formerly of Hemlock, Michigan

Passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center. Age 83 years. He was born December 9, 1928, in Saginaw, to the late John and Sophie (Gorte) Reimer. He married Doris (Schultz) Underwood on January 23, 1995, in Bradenton, Florida, and continued to spend winters in Florida. She survives him. He served with the US Army during the Korean War. He retired from Vanguard Fire Protection. John was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hemlock. He enjoyed playing golf. Surviving besides his wife, Doris, are three children: his son, John J. and wife Sarah Reimer, Hemlock; daughters, Christine Porras, Merrill; Andrea and her husband James Ankrum, Alexandria, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Gabriel Storm Porras, Tristen Shane Reimer, Evan Ankrum, Jonathan Reimer, and Garrett Reimer; several nieces, nephews and their families. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son-in-law, Ralph Porras, his twin brother, Richard Reimer, and by four half-brothers, Dave, Herb, Otto and Eddie Ruppel. Funeral service will take place on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2290 Pretzer Road, Hemlock. Rev. Phil Bigelow will officiate with entombment in Oakwood Memorial Mausoleum. His family will receive friends at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, and then at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
