Palmer, Susan Kay (Savage), Saginaw, Michigan

A lifelong resident of Saginaw, Susan passed away on September 18, 2012 to be with the Lord. Age 65 years. Susan was born on October 17, 1946 in Saginaw to the late Roland Robert and Bernadette "Peg" (Jersevic) Savage. She attended St. Casimir Elementary School and St. Andrew High School, from which she graduated in 1964. Family was most important to Susan who dedicated much time to caring for her younger siblings, her parents, and nieces and nephews. She became the family nucleus after the deaths of her parents and could be counted on to listen to problems, offer advice, or just listen and encourage hopes and dreams. In addition to being an avid reader, Susan prided herself in her crochet abilities. Throughout the years she provided her family members with beautiful cherished potholders, dolls, afghans and rugs. She loved the outdoors; camping, hiking, fishing and hunting. She also kept in her heart a special spot for animals, and throughout her life adopted a selection of the homeless upon which to bestow love and attention. Still, it is agreed upon by her family that her most important achievement and her greatest legacy was the kindness, wisdom and love she bestowed upon her family and all those who knew her. She had a friendly, approachable nature and a welcoming smile. People liked her and she liked people. Susan is survived by her loving husband of more than forty years, George Palmer; brother, Roland Savage Jr.; sisters, Sandra Kendall, Donna Shauger, Ruth Teske, Nancy Brink, Mary Helen Sears and Amy Anton; and many special nieces and nephews who she loved as if they were her own children. Susan was laid to rest at LaPorte Cemetery in Ingersoll Township on Saturday, September 22, 2012. She will be sorely missed upon this earth. Arrangements entrusted to The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road.
