Packard, Thomas Michael “The Digging Man”, Saginaw, Michigan

Loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2012 at home. Age 71 years. The son of the late George and Helen (Foote) Packard was born on February 6, 1941 in Saginaw. He married Wanda J. Roberson; she survives him. Tom served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, stationed in Berlin, Germany. He worked as a self-employed contractor. Tom enjoyed collecting antiques and digging with his backhoe. Surviving besides his wife, Wanda are his children; Steve (Kelly) Packard, John Packard, Ed (Kay) Packard, Michelle (George) Race, Brenda (Keith) Irish, Robert (Brandi) Coats, Henry (Sue) Coats, Lisa (Nick) Smith, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his siblings; Pat Sova, George Packard and Roger (Bev) Packard and many nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by a brother-in-law Jack Sova and his niece, Mary T. Sova. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway. Rev. Scott McIntyre will officiate with cremation to follow. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
