Oeming, Janice Freeman (Goodsell), Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away Friday, March 02, 2012, at Covenant- Cooper. Age 86 years. The daughter of the late Dr. John Orton Goodsell Sr. and Florence (Freeman) Goodsell was born January 11, 1926 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married David F. Oeming Sr., June 18, 1947. He survives her. She was a graduate of the University of Michigan and then attended Michigan State University and received her Master’s in Linguistics from Central Michigan University. She was a Speech Therapist for Saginaw Public School where she wrote the curriculum for their hearing impaired program. She retired with over twenty years of service. Janice was a very active member of Peace Lutheran Church, volunteered as an interpreter at V.O.I.C.E, and Catholic Family Services, and Habitat for Humanity. She was a member of the Garden Club and the Junior League of Saginaw. She loved the Upper Peninsula, Lake Superior and their place at Rock River. Janice was a mentor and friend to numerous Brittany Spaniels and Labradors. She was a staunch University of Michigan and Detroit Tiger Fan. Surviving besides her husband, David, are six children and their spouses, David F. and Therese-Marie Oeming, Freeland, MI; Jack and Kat Oeming, Eugene, Oregon; Robin and Susan Oeming, Bay City, MI; Lucy and John Malacos, Saginaw, MI; Betsy and Bob Benac, Sarasota, FL; Suzanne and Scott Martin, Cadillac, MI; fifteen grandchildren and their spouses, Alex and Nancy Oeming; Nick and Andrea Oeming; Ann-Marie and Paul Livengood; Nathan and Kristen Oeming; Nichole and Paul Berardi; Bill Oeming: Mitch Oeming; Jake Malacos; Charles and Kelli Malacos; Janice and Kevin Kato; Ali Benac; Bo Benac; Samantha Martin; Elise Martin: Jeff Martin; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A grandson, Chayce Martin and her brother, Dr. Jack Goodsell have predeceased her. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams St., Saginaw, MI. Rev. C. William Weis and Rev. John Weber will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday and then at the Church from Noon Tuesday until the time of the funeral service.
