Nelson Jr., William F., Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away Sunday, April 8, 2012 in Fort Meyers, Florida. He was born in Saginaw, Michigan in 1933, son of William and Audrey Nelson Sr. He graduated from the University of Michigan electrical engineering program in 1955, served as a pilot in the United States Air Force, president of Nelson Electric, and was on the Board of Directors of Citizens Bank. He believed strongly in community service, as was evident by his time spent as councilman and mayor of Saginaw, and board member of Saginaw General Hospital, the Saginaw Foundation, and Tawas Bay Yacht Club. The biggest loves in his life were his wife, Joyce, of 60 years, being on the water, and hunting down good donuts. The memories of him at the helm are our fondest. He is survived by wife Joyce; his three children, Debbie Babcock, Bill (Kate) Nelson III, and Kris (Ray) Clark; and his six grand children, Brent and Deanna Babcock, Ryan and Matt Nelson, and Lou and Fern Clark. A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2012 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at W. L. Case Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw. A Memorial service gathering will take place on Monday April 16, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Saginaw YMCA or a charity of your choice.
